Wise Vitamin Intake

Although nature intended for us to receive the needed vitamins and minerals through food consumption, the changes that have been occurring in people’s lifestyles, working environments, free time and rest hours, have tremendously altered their dietary habits and thus, the quantity of vitamins and mineral supplements received. In order to resolve this recent negative development, physicians and researchers have been advising people to take vitamin and mineral supplements. But although governments set guidelines of how much of each vitamin and mineral people should take in order to stay within the safe range, many people believe these levels are too low and consume larger doses of vitamins thinking that they are doing good with this extra vitamin and mineral intake.

Women and Coffee

I do not know about you, but for me, coffee drinking, especially in the morning or early evening, is more than a simple habit or cultural characteristic. Actually, it has become a necessity without which I cannot open my eyes and stand on my two feet all day. According to researchers, I am not alone. Nearly 80% of the U.S. population drinks coffee on a daily basis. The caffeine measured to be contained in a cup of coffee, me and you daily consume, is around 80-130 mg. But while the medical community has warned the public of the health risks associated to caffeine intake, there still is very little linking between coffee and health problems, except in a very few cases.

Information on Migraines

Twenty-eight million Americans suffer from migraines –debilitating headaches characterized by throbbing pain, usually on one side of the head –and women are three times more likely to be affected by them than men are. The condition is more common than asthma or diabetes, yet more than half of the sufferers have not received a diagnosis. Many do not bother seeing a doctor because they think they have to live with the pain, or they may have been misinformed or misdiagnosed with tension or sinus headaches. That is extremely troubling, because more than half of the sufferers report that their pain is so severe it forces them to stay in bed.

Ischemic and Hemorrhagic Stroke

Hopefully you never had to endure a situation of someone close to you to suffer from transient ischemic attach (TIA), also known as mini stoke, or from a stroke. In any case, you should be familiar with both kinds of stroke as they both destroy brain tissue and can produce similar long-term effects. But there are important differences in what causes them and in the symptoms that tell you which kind of stroke is happening.

A Brief Overview of Diabetes

Chances are, you or someone you know has diabetes, a condition in which the body is unable to regulate blood sugar on its own. According to the American Diabetes Association, there are 20.8 million children and adults in the U.S. or 7 percent of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease.
